Musicians - 2009
If you love the drive and energy and zest that percussion can bring to contra music, you'll be particularly delighted with the FootFall 2009 band line-up. Contrazz is a high-energy ensemble that combines the improvisational style and solos of a jazz band with a repertoire of traditional Celtic, Quebecois and American old–time music. A hot band with a cool sound and a serious groove, this ensemble features David DiGiuseppe on accordion, Rodney Marsh on saxophone and flute, Bernie Petteway on guitar, Diane Petteway on piano and Ed Butler on percussion.
The "quartet version" of Notorious – Eden MacAdam-Somer on fiddle, Larry Unger on guitar, Sam Bartlett on mandolin, and Mark "Pokey" Hellenberg on percussion — is a powerhouse of superb musicians. Swing, blues, Gypsy music and down-home boogie combine with Pokey's endlessly playful percussive improvisation to incredible effect. Big time beautiful
